Sara Guggenheim Jarrett’s journey in the field of education began in 1990 when she started teaching preschool part-time in the summer. It was during this time that she discovered her passion for teaching and witnessing the joy of children as they learn. Sara pursued her education and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development & Family Studies from California State University at Long Beach. She then advanced to become an Assistant Director at a local preschool.
Sara’s entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to creating a unique educational experience for children led her to fill a gap in the preschool market. She aimed to provide an environment that balanced academic exposure with a developmentally appropriate approach. In June of 1998, she embarked on this mission and found herself working from a trailer on a dirt lot, which would later become the home of Newport Coast Preschool.
In January of 1999, Newport Coast Preschool opened its doors with six classrooms and 75 students. The demand for their innovative approach to education quickly grew, leading to the need for an additional classroom by September 1999. In 2001, Room 7 was added, which later became the Junior Kindergarten class.
Sara is incredibly grateful for her dedicated and passionate staff, whom she credits for the ongoing success of the preschool. She firmly believes in the philosophy that “it takes a village” and acknowledges that her vision would not have become a reality without the commitment of each teacher and administrator.
Outside of her professional life, Sara resides in Newport Beach with her husband and two lovely daughters, McKenna and Mia. She enjoys a variety of interests, including entertaining, traveling, reading, cooking, philanthropy, and spending quality time with her family & friends.
