In Room 1 our goal is for the children to gain independence, build confidence, and learn to be away from their primary caregivers. After all, isn’t that what school is all about? Our amazing teachers help these youngest students learn to be a part of a classroom community, how to get along with others, take turns, play in groups, and express their needs. In preschool, it’s important to learn how to “play nice in the sandbox!” With an exceptional student to child ratio, students get the hugs and cuddles they might need along with a curriculum that develops language, cognitive and fine motor skills in an engaging and hands-on approach. Come take a peek, these kiddos love coming to school and becoming proud, independent little learners.

This is a half-day class; students will have lunch at home.

The low ratio in this age group allows us to lay a strong foundation in preschool “academics” while providing exceptional supervision to model and support social interactions. In this preschool year, budding fine motor skills will develop from controlled marks into shapes, pictures, letters and numbers! We’re laying the foundation for early literacy by introducing uppercase letter recognition and writing. Recognizing patterns, sorting, sequencing, counting, and spotting similarities and differences will increase as students are exposed to these concepts regularly. Plus, all the motor skills like jumping, pedaling and cutting will continue to progress with practice and opportunity. These preschoolers are like sponges and soak it all up!

Three- and four-year-olds’ social and emotional skills really begin to shine… and we can’t get enough of their endless questions, newly developed problem-solving skills, and desire to make new friends. Our favorite thing, and soon to be yours too, is when your child comes home telling you all about their best friend! In many cases, the friends you and your child make during this era will be life-long friends.

Room 2 is a half-day class; students will have lunch at home and spend their school day focusing on increasing all those newly developing skills.

Room 3’s extended-day program provides another social opportunity: time to have lunch at school.

4-year-olds

Room 4

Part- or Full-time PreK for students who are getting ready to start Kinder next year, or who will take the gift of time in Junior K next year.

Pre-Kindergarten, as the name suggests, is the year just before Kindergarten for most students. As older, more independent, and capable learners, PreK students are ready for a little rigor, we are happy to deliver the goods. Learning Centers are tailored to reach the needs of every child, offering a differentiated curriculum that sets us apart from other preschools… it’s our magic potion. Daily doses of letter sounds, upper- and lowercase letters, beginning and ending sounds and word families enhance literacy development in PreK. A hands-on approach to numeric value, counting by rote, quantity, positional vocabulary, and geometric shapes makes mathematical concepts fun and engaging.

PreK kids are stretching their social/emotional wings, getting ready to fly. Our teachers encourage resilience, cooperation and problem-solving by providing lots of opportunities for free play, following the rules in group games and the tools for imagination to soar. Social opportunities at free play, lunch and small groups help foster strong friendships and interpersonal skills. Most importantly, students will gain a love for learning with our hands-on approach ready for success in Junior K, Kindergarten or wherever their wings take them!

The curriculum in Room 4 is specifically designed for our youngest PreK students whose summer birthday (June – September) makes them eligible for Kindergarten the following year, but who will also qualify for the gift of time in Junior K.

4-to 5-year-olds

Age 4- and 5-year-olds (turning 5 after September 1)

A gift of time Junior K for early 5’s who are starting Kinder a year late.

Junior Kindergarten is a magical “gift of time” for young five-year-olds who have already completed PreK and who, because of their birthday, could go to Kindergarten but would be the youngest.  Decisions, decisions…we know they’re hard, but this one is entirely up to you, the parents!  This gift of time is not to replace Kindergarten, but rather to hone skills learned in PreK and to allow for social and emotional growth. Using a multi-sensory approach that engages connections so that students learn concepts in more than one way.  Room 7 has a strong focus on literacy, using phonemic awareness, decoding, close reading and imaginative writing to develop emergent reading proficiency.  Building on the mathematical concepts taught in PreK leads to addition and subtraction, and real-life skills such as measurement, comparison, time, and money.  After this magical year, Junior K students emerge with a gained confidence and maturity that proves priceless both socially and academically for years to come. We have yet to find a student or family who regrets giving their child the gift of Room 7!
