The Parent/Toddler Program at Newport Coast Preschool is designed as a mini-preschool session. It is a time for you and your child to interact together in a classroom environment! Participants are introduced to the fundamentals of what preschool is all about and it’s a great opportunity for children to become familiar with our campus, which helps alleviate separation anxiety when they begin attending on their own. It is through the Parent/Toddler Program that children are exposed to the beginnings of group interaction and operating in classroom setting.
Class will begin with free play in the classroom as everyone arrives. Once the group has assembled, children will be encouraged to help clean up the toys and join in on group time (including the favorite welcome Bumble Bee Song). Then, parents and toddlers will make their way to the Learning Centers, where the teachers will have set up thematic activities to practice new skills and strengthen motor skills. Following that, they will be treated to a read-aloud story and/or a music & movement activity while a snack is being set out. After they eat the snack, it time for outside play! The playground boasts a huge sandbox and climbing structure with a double slide, ride-on toys to scoot around the bike path, a playhouse for dramatic play, and a beautiful grassy area. Each session ends with a closing group time, and students love to leave with a sticker from their teacher!
