The Parent/Toddler Program at Newport Coast Preschool is designed as a “mini” preschool session. It is a time for you and your child to interact together. This class gives the children a chance to be introduced to the fundamentals of what preschool is all about. It is through the Parent/Toddler Program that children learn the social skills necessary to make them successful “preschoolers”.

A majority of the class is free choice. Different learning centers are set up for the children to play and explore. Some of the activities will be “messy” so you and your child should dress appropriately. Because this is a Parent/Toddler class we ask that you stay focused and involved with your child. The Parent/Toddler teachers are merely there to set up the environment and help facilitate it. They are not responsible for your children.

Within the program there is also a group time, which last approximately 10-15 minutes. The teacher may choose to facilitate a music and movement activity, a story time or a fun game. Following the group time there will be a snack time and then outside for some more fun activities…painting, art, climbers, water play, sand play, etc. The Program will then close with another short circle time.

Newport Coast Child Development Preschool offers the Parent/Toddler Program to help children and parents get acquainted with the preschool environment. Our approach to this program is to have a safe, secure and caring place for children to play within a preschool setting.

Eligibility

Children must be between the ages 18 months to 30 months. We offer three (3) sessions a year which are held on Mondays and Wednesdays. You may sign up for one day a week. Each child must have a physician’s report filled out by the child’s doctor as well as a TB clearance for the parent before they can start the program.

Classes

We offer a Summer Session starting at the end of June which lasts eight (8) weeks. It is held on Mondays or Wednesdays from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m.  Summer P/T tuition is due on June 1st.  It is no longer refundable after June 1st.

The Fall Session lasts three (3) months and will start in mid-September.  It is held on Mondays or Wednesdays from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m.  Fall P/T tuition is due by September 1st and is not refundable after September 1st. 

The Spring Session is also three (3) months and starts mid-February.  It is held on Mondays or Wednesdays from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. Spring P/T tuition is due by January 15th and is not refundable after February 1st. 

Fees

The Registration Fee is due at the time of registration.  Tuition is due one month prior to session start date.

Priority and Attendance

Priority is given to those students who attend at least one Parent/Toddler Session.  Registration for those students will immediately follow currently enrolled preschool students and alumni registration.  There is no guarantee into any specific class (for example, a morning session) only that their will be a spot available somewhere.  If a child does not attend at least six (6) out of the twelve (12) classes per session their priority status will be dropped.

Registration

Registration for summer, fall and spring Parent/Toddler Sessions are held once a year during our New Family Open Registration which are held in February.  If you are re-registering  you will do so during the Currently Enrolled Registration which is in January.
