Is NCCDP accredited?

Yes, we are proud to have achieved and maintained accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) since 2001! See their website http://www.naeyc.org/accreditation for more information regarding this prestigious commendation.

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes, if the annual tuition is paid in full by September 1 of that School Year, there is 5% discount. Siblings who attend at the same time receive 10% off the lowest tuition total. Families may receive a vacation credit once per School Year: 25% off of one monthly tuition installment if you are absent for two or more consecutive weeks.

How “potty trained” does my child need to be?

To be considered potty-trained, the child must be able to use the toilet on his own and recognize/indicate the need to go. Our rule of thumb is that children should be wearing underwear (not pull-ups or training pants) during the day for one month before they start preschool, and they should remain relatively dry -only occasionally having an accident.

What is the discipline policy?

We strive to help children learn how to cooperate effectively with others and how to be a successful part of our world. The main purpose of our program is to affirm self-esteem, even when behavior is unacceptable. In taking disciplinary action, the teacher considers what is most appropriate for a particular situation and the children involved. The outcome should be to resolve the conflict as well as empowering the children to gain self-awareness and problem solving skills. Tactics may include intervention, resolution of conflict, redirection, or if safety is a concern, separation from an area or group. Nurturing, listening and supportive care are the most effective means of minimizing the need for discipline. Interactions with children are authentic, caring and respectful.

When a child demonstrates persistent, serious or challenging behavior, it may be necessary to develop and implement an individualized plan that supports the child’s participation, inclusion and success in the program. NCCDP will provide contact to resources and consultants to aid in developing the best plan for that child. Teachers, administration and families will work together in developing the plan.

What if my child has a food allergy?

NCCDP is a peanut- and tree-nut free campus, so those who suffer from nut allergies can rest assured that teachers and staff strive to make certain that nuts -in any form -are not served to children in the classroom. We request to parents that you are diligent in ensuring that snacks, lunches and treats brought on campus are nut-safe.

If a child is allergic to another food, parents must inform the child’s teacher, every year. The teacher will work with you to make a plan that keeps your child safe. This may include alternate or replacement snack items that you will provide from home, and a plan to replace any snacks that another family brings in. A list of all student allergies is posted in each classroom.
